Hi all!! My name is Jeff Goodrich! I like to pick up heavy crap and put it down. For fun. Ha!
No but seriously, its what I do.
I compete in Powerlifting in the 220 weight class. I'm 29 years old. I'm engaged to be married to a lovely lady in a few months. I work for a local Dayton, OH power company speaking Spanish. I plan on having a career with a degree in Computer Science or as a Physical Therapists Assisstant. Or both. I LOVE being outside. I enjoy a nice round of Disc Golf as well as grilling. Can't beat a nice cut of steak seared to perfection over a wild fire.
I was introduced to Powerlifting when I was about 15 by my father who managed a 1700+lb total at 220-242. He was my training partner, then after he got a biceps issue I soon lost interest. After a few years off of any kind of workout regimen or nutritional tracking, I saw a picture of myself...
...and was appalled at what I saw. So I decided to take care of business and crush it. Dropping a total of 42lbs since then.
Like a Bauss!!!
I've been training at The Dirty Gym for a little over a year. After they invited me to do a small local meet in 2013 I've been hooked. I've competed in 6 more meets since then.
Thanks to their wisdom and coaching mixed with some good, old fashioned hard work, my competition total has gone up about 150lbs in that time (could have been more had I nailed my 3rd attempt on bench and DL at my last meet, HA!).
I'm readying up for the USPA Midwest Regional Championships in 4 weeks, where I plan on hitting a 1600+ total at 220.
Here are the focus areas for the 3rd week of my current 3-week bench cycle:
- Max effort floor press
- 10X1 Sumo DL w chain
- Killin the Lats:
- Heavy bent rows
- Wide grip pull ups
